We are proud to be presenting the following documentary shorts from Chocolate Films '1000 Londoners' series which are also part of the BFI's Britain on Films seasons at Fighting Spirit Films Festival 2016 at the O2 Cineworld London


1000 Londoners: Shifu Yanzi

Oliver Parkin | 2016 | English | Documentary | 4 mins 

Shaolin Kung Fu refers to a traditional system which was born from Ch’an Buddhism. Amongst the various types of Kung Fu, the Shaolin system is believed to be the founding style of all martial arts. This tradition began around 1,500 years ago. 

1000 Londoners: Alan Lee Travis

Alan is a professional wrestler for LDN wrestling. He tours theatres, leisure centres and town halls all over Great Britain. It was Alan’s life long ambition to become a professional wrestler and nothing gives him more pleasure than hearing the cheers from his fans.

1000 Londoners: John Jasinski

John is Polish and has not lived in London for long, however he is enjoying life here and has thrown himself into one of London’s more underground sports – mixed martial arts cage fighting. This is his first ever competitive fight that took place at the Troxy in Limehouse with the promoter WCMMA. He has recently become a father to his baby daughter, born in December 2013.

1000 Londoners: Ryan Hart

Ryan Hart is a Professional Gamer (Team Dignitas). Ryan holds three world records for the most international Street Fighter competition wins, most tournament wins in Street Fighter, and the longest winning streak on Street Fighter IV.

1000 Londoners: Paulo Muhongo

Peter Kelly | 2016 | English | Documentary | 3 mins 

Paulo was born in Angola and trained as a boxer from a young age. His dreams of competing in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles were crushed by the political conflicts at the time which lead to Angola boycotting the Olympics that year. Having missed out on an Olympic title, Paulo now runs a boxing club, helping his students fulfil their own dreams. But more than just a boxing coach, Paulo is seen as a father figure to many of his students, having a positive impact on their lives inside and outside the ring.


2016 Feature Film Programme

The three main features that have characters in them that have something inspiring about them. They all are learning and overcoming obstacles. They also cover different genres,  Kung Fu Panda 3 is a family film and a recent release, Drunken Master is a classic cult film and Ip Man 3 is current film loosely based on the life story of Ip Man who himself had an inspiring story
