The Schedule for London 2018 is as follows:
Friday 14th September
7PM - OFFICIAL FESTIVAL OPENING
7.30PM - OUT OF COMPETITION SHORT FILMS SELECTION
Our selected films for this screening are 'Cable: Chronicles of Hope' (dir: George and Harry Kirby), and 'Drug Den Killers' (dir: Jude Poyer)
8PM - GALA SCREENING debt collector (15) + INTRO + Q&A
Our gala screening this year will be 'The Debt Collector', the fourth collaboration between director Jesse V Johnson, and action superstar Scott Adkins and they will be there to introduce the film, and take part in a Q&A after the screening. Also starring Louis Mandylor (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Vladimir Kulich (The Equaliser), Tony Todd (The Flash), and Selina Lo (One Child), 'The Debt Collector' is already a favourite amongst action cinema critics, and has been acclaimed as one of Adkins' best films.
Saturday 15th September
11AM - THE KARATE KID 2 (PG) IN ASSOCIATION WITH CINE ASIA - EARLY BIRD CHARITY SCREENING
This year's charity screening will be the sequel to the iconic 'The Karate Kid'. In this second instalment Daniel accompanies his mentor, Mr. Miyagi, to Miyagi's childhood home in Okinawa. Miyagi visits his dying father and confronts his old rival, while Daniel falls in love and inadvertently makes a new rival of his own.
12.50PM - free SEMINAR - HOW TO MAKE AN MODERN ACTION FILM with MIKE FURY
Journalist, author, and fight choreographer Mike Fury presents a seminar on how to make a modern action film. He will map out the process, and bring special guests from the industry to offer their own advice drawn on their own experiences within the film industy.
2.20PM - SHORT FILMS IN COMPETITION (18)
In our Short Films Screening we will showing a mix of fiction and documentaries, all produced by up-and-coming film makers. The full line up is available on our ‘Line Up’ page.
6.30PM - VENGEANCE (15) UK THEATRICAL PREMIERE WITH DIR AND CAST Q&A
Director Ross Boyask featured in our very first festival in 2016 with his short film 'Salvation', and now we are proud to present the UK Theatrical Premiere of feature, 'Vengeance', starring former WWE Superstar Stu Bennet (aka Wade Barrett), action legend Gary Daniels (Fist of the North Star, The Expendables), and Bryan Larkin (Chasing The Dragon). Bennett plays ex-soldier turned mercenary, John Gold, who learns of the murder of his best friend and sets off on a mission to find out what happened. He discovers is a sinister conspiracy and he sets about taking down those responsible one by one. The screening will be followed by an Q&A with the director, and the cast and crew present on the day.
9.00PM - CLASSIC FEATURE IN ASSOCIATION WITH terracotta distribution - ENTER THE DRAGON (18) + NO ORDINARY JOE
On the 45th Anniversary of the film’s release, Fighting Spirit Film Festival will pay homage to martial arts legend Bruce Lee by screening his finest film, the legendary ‘Enter The Dragon’. The film will be preceeded by documentary 'No Ordinary Joe' (dir: Rick Quan), which tells the story of Allen Joe, a good friend and mentor to Bruce Lee, who introduced him to bodybuilding, and taught him how to sculpt his incredible physique.
